About Me and This Blog

I’m Elliott. A long time ago, I started writing about the Cincinnati Reds for this blog. For whatever reason, I stopped. I do have issues with consistency after all.

A few years later, I got really into cooking, and blogged about that for a while. It was fun for a while but, as you might guess, that didn’t last long either. (Those posts have been archived to avoid confusion.)

Here I am again.

When I look back at some of those old posts, it’s shocking how much has changed in my life since then. I’ve changed careers. (I’m a general assignment reporter by day.) I’ve lost loved ones, including my father and maternal grandmother, whose late husband influenced my diehard Reds fandom. I’ve met the love of my life and we’re getting married in a few months. I’m lucky that my mother, siblings and their families all live within an hour of us.

One thing that hasn’t changed? My obsession with the Reds. But my interest in baseball in general — especially its many layers of statistics that I now frequently peruse on Fangraphs and Baseball Savant — has leveled up recently to the point that I felt the urge to start blogging again in my spare time. I just published my first post in nearly 10 years. Let’s see how consistent I am this time around.

Thanks for reading.
